Time for the Group D preview of the Ales Hrebesky Memorial. This groups features a final four candidate, a possible top ten finisher and a newcomer who hopes to take people by surprise. Check out below to see what our the group of the Boston Megamen, Vienna Monarchs and Swiss Chocolax will unfold.

Boston Megamen (2015 Result 4th)

megamen 16 circleThe Megamen not only rock the best jersey’s year in year out, they’re also always in the running to win the Tournament. In their case Look good, play good, really does apply. Their last tournament victory came in 2012 and they’ve been oh so close ever since. Perhaps they need to bring Jamie Plunkett back as he was on the championship winning team. They’ll be hoping this year is finally the year they can Do what they C Fit and win the title. They’ll be led by the nimble PJ Martin, Erik Holt and Dave Deriso who is actually 0.0001% Turkish after review. In total they have 9 guys who’ve had past NLL experience so nothing less than a championship will be a let down. Look for the Megamen to win this group and face a tough match potentially against the Deutschland Adler. Prediction 1-4

On another note can’t talk about the Megamen without mentioning Frank Menschner. Frank sadly passed away shortly after last years tournament which marked his 15th appearance in a row. He was always on the Megamen bench manning the door or in the clubhouse. He’ll sadly be missed and the tournament will be missing a big presence this year.

Vienna Monarchs (2015 Results 10th)

Vienna MonarchsVienna will be looking to capture some of the glory that they had in the 2014 Tournament where they finished a fantastic sixth place. Last year they fell to 1oth but this team is one not to take lightely as they have a few guys who can make you pay. They are led by Klaus Hauer who last year scored 16 goals and 3 assists in 6 games which tied him for 2nd best overall in goals and 3rd in total points. If they can pick up a couple of the Czech players like in previous years such as Jan Skokan they should have good offensive weapons. They are backstopped by Christoph Kunert who had a respectable 72% last tournament. Vienna should finish second place in the this group after a tough loss to the Megamen, a possible tough second round match up against  the Ladner Pioneers. Prediction 10-14

Swiss Chocolax (2015 Result – not entered)

12986688_10156771051595273_1529377279_oThe Swiss Chocolax team will be newcomers at this years tournament. They’ll be made up of purely Swiss players – some of whom were in Syracuse for them at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. For a lot of the players this will be their first time under the bright lights of Radotin so hopefully the spotlight doesn’t get the best of them. Chocolax will look to veteran Lukas Heri to lead the way on offence and Stefan Zweifel on defence. Alex Meier will probably be busy in goal and will need to have a good tournament to lead the team to victory. This team will likely finished 3rd in this group but will give Vienna a tough game for 2nd place. Prediction 16-21
